Thanks to Sinéad Nic Síoda for this great review of last week’s gig:
“Thank you to all who came to last night’s gig, and to those of you that couldn’t make it, sorry you missed out! Claire Watts left me literally speechless. Her performance was profound!
With Chris Wood’s guitar chords and Claire’s self written songs I followed on what can only be described as a life journey; an actual experience so surreal and befitting of her new CD title, ‘Dreaming Out Loud.’
The room filled with the angelic sound of Claire’s voice. Her pitch prevailed all else, penetrating the corridors of my mind and echoing emotions with such intensity, my eyes welled up. An experience, so precious, I don’t expect I’ll ever forget it. Her range from childlike sweetness to contrasting notes of soul and blues, has left this woman difficult to categorise. The extreme depths of feeling found in her singing, can never be denied; the maturity, the perfect deliverance of her heartfelt story, I was mesmerized, blessed by this moment in time. I don’t think I am alone in saying I totally identified with this singer and was truly moved! Better said, by John Spillane, “A clear honest and beautiful voice, You’d have to have a heart of stone not to be moved by these songs.” For anyone that missed last night’s performance, I would highly recommend catching Claire Watts,on your first given opportunity. If I was to sum up last night’s gig in one word? Wow!”
