July Newsletter. New video and radio interview tonight at 10pm, Sunday 3rd July.

Welcome to the July edition of my newsletter. It’s been a busy six months which has seen me play some glorious gigs, one of the highlights was playing support to Sean Keane in Moy Community Hall in April.

April also saw my first debut in Limerick where I was the guest Singer Songwriter at The Acoustic Club, a great platform for artists showcasing original material, at the White House Bar in Limerick. Thanks to Dominic Taylor for organising and Keith Harris for the photo.

DSC00021I also returned to the fabulous Record Break in Ennis to play an intimate gig alongside talented poet Paul McNamara. Thanks for having me back again Sinead.

In March I travelled to London to record my second music video for “Angel’s Roost” with Peter Walsh and Jane Walsh of PJNorthenboy Films. I met Peter a few years ago on the London Song Company Diploma course and as well as being a fantastic songwriter in his own right, he is also pretty nifty with a camera. He did an unbelievable job in a very short space of time. Thanks Peter and Jane! You can watch the video here…..

In March I also released my song about Miltown Malbay – “My heart lies in Miltown Malbay” and you can download it here for free… Thanks to Eoin O’ Neill and all the presenters at Clare FM for giving it airplay. This song will feature on my new album.

June heralded the beginning of recording of some brand new shiny songs. I am delighted to have Carl Hession on board to produce and I’m really looking forward to finishing my new work and releasing the recording in Autumn.

This Sunday July 3rd at 10pm, just after the news on our local radio station Clare FM, I will be featuring on Pat Costello’s show “Gentle Folk” talking about my songwriting. For my friends outside Ireland you can listen to it live at www.clare.fm

After a long break Gerry and I have returned to playing sessions together and we will be playing a regular gig for the summer at The Nineteenth Bar in Lahinch every Tuesday night at 9.30pm. We’d love to see you there for a song or a tune.

Tuesdays also mean mornings full of creativity and singing with my fellow songsters Anne Rynne and Shona Blake

Shona realised her ambition to release her debut album of original songs in December –  www.shonablake.com.

and Anne realeased her debut album of songs in Miltown Malbay this weekend. Congratulations to you both!

Parallel to this, it has been a busy year with teaching and other music-related work.
I have loved every minute of  working with my six workshop groups within the Embrace Arts programme. A very special moment was when students of St Anne’s School performed “Angels Roost” in Glor for the Annual Embrace concert.

Now as we hurtle forward into Willie Clancy week, I’m looking forward to lots of tunes as we welcome our guests from  such far flung places as Feakle to Florida!

As always I thank you for your support, encouragement, likes, shares and retweets.

Until next time…
